The National Institute of Port Management is an institute which trains personnel for managing Indian ports, with both residential and academic facilities. The design uses courtyards as organizing devices, along a narrow and linear coastal site.
The academic buildings are organized along a series of five landscaped courtyards in a linear progression from the entrance pavilion to the auditorium. A similar design strategy was used in the hostel building. Much of the RCC work – like lintels – was precast at the site to increase the speed of the construction. The campus houses offices for the administrative staff and faculty, classrooms, laboratories, computer facilities, library, a forty – bedroom hostel and staff housing.
